Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and focused team player to primarily support the development of the education and training programme. The person must appreciate the importance of data-driven approach in education programme development. The ideal candidate will also be assisting Project Coordinators in the implementation of education and training programmes in rural and urban settings. This role requires some travelling within peninsular Malaysia, working on the go, and sharing responsibilities with stakeholders and service providers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead Orang Asli Education Programs – Plan, coordinate, and deliver education classes in Orang Asli villages, ensuring content is culturally relevant, engaging, and impactful.
- End-to-End Project Management – Manage education and other Orang Asli projects from inception to completion, including scope definition, resource planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting.
- Community Engagement – Build strong relationships with village leaders, parents, and community members to ensure program acceptance, participation, and sustainability.
- On-Ground Implementation – Conduct site visits, recce trips, and oversee installations or activities related to projects. Provide direction and support to field teams.
- Versatile Project Delivery – Be adaptable to implement and manage a variety of Orang Asli-focused initiatives (e.g., water systems, solar lighting, livelihood projects) alongside education programs.
- Monitoring & Evaluation – Track program progress, collect data, measure outcomes against KPIs, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Coordination – Liaise with clients, partners, government agencies, and vendors to ensure smooth execution and alignment of project deliverables.
- Budget Management – Prepare and manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure projects are delivered within approved financial parameters.
- Capacity Building – Support training and upskilling of Orang Asli youth or volunteers involved in the projects.
- Problem-Solving – Identify potential risks or challenges early and propose solutions to keep projects on track.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Education, Community Development, Project Management, or other relevant fields.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in education programs, community development, or project management.
- Experience working with rural or indigenous communities (especially Orang Asli) is an advantage.
- Fluent in both Bahasa Malaysia and English (spoken and written); ability to converse in local indigenous languages is an added bonus.
- Strong facilitation, coordination, and communication skills.
- Agile, proactive, and able to work under pressure in dynamic environments.
- Passionate about improving education and livelihood opportunities for underserved communities.
