Senior Technical Project Manager
- Kuala Lumpur
- Programme & Project Management (Information & Communication Technology)
- Full time
- RM 10,000 – RM 13,000 per month
About the Role
Vuly Play is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to drive the day-to-day coordination and execution of consumer electronics products. You will be the engine that keeps delivery moving: drawing up plans, following up on team tasks, and making sure work stays on track across firmware, electronics hardware, graphics & CGI, Devops IT, and manufacturing workstreams, spanning our Brisbane HQ, Kuala Lumpur offices and manufacturing partners.
This is a technically fluent role for someone who can engage credibly with engineers, translate plans into clear tasks, and chase them to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Draw up and maintain project plans, schedules, and milestones under the direction of the Design & Delivery Manager.
- Follow up on individual team members’ tasks across all workstreams — tracking progress, chasing updates, and ensuring deliverables are completed on time.
- Engage with firmware, hardware, and electronics engineers to understand technical dependencies and translate them into clear, sequenced tasks.
- Keep the critical path visible: identify slippage early, flag blockers, and surface risks to the Design & Delivery Manager with proposed options.
- Coordinate distributed teams across AU and Malaysia – managing handoffs and timezone-spanning communication.
- Factor supply chain and manufacturing lead times into schedules, working with the hardware/NPI team through EVT/DVT/PVT gates. (You won’t own supplier management, but you must understand how the supply chain drives the timeline.)
- Run delivery cadence: stand-ups, task reviews, and progress reporting back to the Design & Delivery Manager and the wider team.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date tracking of progress, tasks, and defects in Jira and/or Monday.com.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in technical project coordination or project management, including experience delivering physical electronic consumer products (hardware + firmware).
- Familiarity with the NPI lifecycle (concept → EVT/DVT/PVT → mass production) and how product development progresses through it.
- Technical fluency to engage credibly with firmware, hardware, and electronics engineers and translate technical work into actionable tasks.
- Strong organisational and follow-up skills – able to chase tasks and hold people to timelines without owning the final outcome.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional, geographically distributed teams.
- Working understanding of consumer electronics supply chains and manufacturing lead times.
- Strong command of project tracking tooling (Jira, Monday.com) and structured PM methodology (Agile, Stage-Gate, or hybrid).
- Excellent written and verbal English; ability to operate across multiple Asian/AU timezones.
Preferred / Advantageous
- Engineering background or qualification (electronics, embedded systems, mechatronics, or similar).
- Experience with consumer electronics, toys, or play/sports equipment.
- Working proficiency in Mandarin (useful for liaison with manufacturing partners).
- Familiarity with hardware compliance/certification regimes for consumer electronics.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification
