REQUIREMENTS / JOB SPECIFICATION
Academic Background
- Minimum Certificate or Diploma in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
Working Experience/Certification/Competencies/Skills
- Possess at least 0-2 years of working experience (polymer manufacturing or Petrochemical Plant is added advantage). Fresh graduates (Cert or Diploma level) are encouraged to apply.
i) POLYMER
GENERAL DUTIES
- Monitor the NPP process and carry out appropriate changes to process settings in the field to ensure smooth operation.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Monitor the NPP process through routine checks and patrol.
- Carry out start-up and shut-down activities of the NPP unit, especially extruders, after and prior to die change/screw replacement respectively.
- Prepare area/equipment for handover to E/M or E/I group prior to maintenance work.
- Ensure that Permit to Work requirements are followed prior to performance of work
- Carry out sampling at dehydrator and SP dryer for related analysis.
- Perform contamination and b-value analyses.
- Carry out stabilizer charging during night shift.
- Record the required process conditions in the Field Logsheet for NPP unit.
- Record the required equipment conditions in the Equipment Patrol Logsheet for NPP unit.
- Monitor the cleanliness of the NPP area using the 5S checklist and perform housekeeping.
- Handover duties during shift change and attend TBM.
- Attend training that is mandated by government regulations or to meet plant safety requirements (e.g. ERP training, First Aid training).
ii) MONOMER
GENERAL DUTIES
- Support plant operations and engineering activities to ensure safe, stable, and efficient production.
- Assist in monitoring process performance and implementing improvement initiatives.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Monitor plant conditions via DCS and field to ensure stable operation.
- Support start-up, shutdown, and daily operational activities.
- Assist in process adjustments and respond to abnormal situations.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of plant upsets.
- Assist in analysing process data and identifying improvement areas.
- Prepare equipment for maintenance and ensure PTW compliance.
- Coordinate with Shift Supervisors, Engineers, and Maintenance teams on operational issues.
- Follow up on action items to ensure timely closure and implementation.
- Support plant activities such as shutdown, inspection, and projects.
- Participate in process improvement, optimisation, and reliability initiatives.
- Develop technical knowledge in plant operation and systems.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, safety requirements, and company standards.
- Maintain good housekeeping and 5S practices in assigned areas.
