About the role
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join Mesiniaga Berhad in our Subang Jaya, Selangor office. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our Finance and Accounting department. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing financial accounting and reporting functions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decision-making. This role is integral to maintaining the financial health and integrity of our organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded in compliance with accounting standards.
- Review account reconciliations and ensure necessary adjustments or corrective actions are completed promptly.
- Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements for Bursa Malaysia announcements.
- Prepare annual financial statements in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and audit requirements.
- Review Annual Reports to ensure accuracy, consistency, and error-free disclosures.
- Apply strong knowledge of IFRS/MFRS to ensure proper revenue and cost recognition practices.
- Liaise independently with external auditors and manage audit-related matters effectively.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as required by management.
- Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of internal controls and financial governance.
- Prepare tax computations for review by tax agents.
- Ensure timely submission of statutory and regulatory reports to Bursa Malaysia, Securities Commission (SC), and MDEC.
- Support the implementation of new accounting standards and provide guidance on complex accounting treatments.
Requirements
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance.
- Registered member of MIA.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience, including at least 3 years in an audit firm.
- Experience in Finance, General Accounting, or Cost Accounting functions.
- Hands-on experience with SAP, particularly FI/CO modules, will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of accounting standards, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Able to make sound decisions on accounting treatments and implement new accounting requirements effectively.
- Knowledge of regional tax and statutory requirements including Corporate Tax, SST, and Withholding Tax (WHT).
- Familiar with Companies Act, Bursa Malaysia, and Securities Commission requirements.
- Exposure to the IT industry would be an added advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
