The Chemist role is responsible for the accuracy, reliability and validity of laboratory analysis results by reviewing, verifying and interpreting chemical test data, supporting quality control activities and ensuring compliance with applicable standards, specifications and laboratory management systems
Job description :
- Review, verify and validate routine and non-routine test results
- Interpret analytical data and identify abnormal trends or out-of-specification (OOS) results
- Conduct investigation and root cause analysis for OOS or deviation cases
- Ensure laboratory testing activities comply with approved methods, SOPs and quality standards
- Perform method verification, validation or improvement when required
- Review and authorize laboratory reports, Certificate of Analysis (COA) and related documentation
- Monitor laboratory equipment performance, calibration and preventive maintenance status and method suitability
- Monitor process data analysis and conduct SPC
- Ensure proper handling, storage and disposal of chemicals in accordance with safety and environmental regulations
- Support internal and external audits and address audit findings, inspections and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirement :
- Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or a related field
- Minimum 5 years in a laboratory or QC in manufacturing environment (experience in biodiesel, oleochemical, or palm oil industry preferred)
- Familiarity with handling variable-quality feedstocks such as UCO and POME
- Experience with analytical instruments such as Gas Chromatography (GC) and ICP-OES is preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills
