Job Description
- Develop complete 3D Tekla Structures models for Structural steel frameworks, Architectural and feature steelworks, 3D forms such as canopies, façade structures, skylights, and trusses
- Ensure models are clash-free, fabrication-compliant, and coordinated with structural and architectural drawings.
- Detail curved, tapered, segmented, twisted, and irregular steel elements.
- Model rolled sections with accurate radius, bend allowance, spring-back consideration, and workshop limitations.
- Prepare fabrication drawings for curved members showing bend radius, arc length, and welding details.
- Generate complete fabrication outputs including NC1/NC files, DXF files for CNC cutting machines
- Nesting for plates, flat bars, stiffeners, and gussets
- Coordinate with workshop to ensure Nesting complies with machine capabilities (plasma, laser, oxy-cut).
- Produce fabrication and installation drawings, including, GA drawings, Assembly drawings, Single-part drawings, Bolt lists and material lists (BOM)
- Model standard and custom connections (welded, bolted, moment, curved interfaces).
- Understand welding symbols, bolt grades, plate thickness, and shop tolerances.
- Liaise with Engineers, Project managers, Production supervisors, and QAQC
- Participate in technical discussions and shop drawing review meetings.
- Maintain organised revision control and naming standards.
- Issue updated drawing packages in line with fabrication schedule requirements.
- Perform self-checking of all drawings before release.
- Verify dimensions, orientation, tolerances, and curved geometry accuracy.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or related fields.
- 2–5 years Tekla Structures experience in steel fabrication or detailing.
- Strong proficiency in:
- 3D Tekla modelling
- CNC nesting and file preparation (NC, DXF)
- Understanding of steel fabrication (cutting, welding, bending, rolling).
- Familiarity with EN/BS/BCA standards, steel grades, and welding requirements.
