About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Officer to join the team at Yankey Engineering (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in George Town, Penang on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process to support the company’s construction projects.
What you’ll be doing
Materials and Equipment Procurement:
- Manage the procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, non-production materials, and equipment, coordinating with various departments to ensure efficient supply.
Supplier Management:
- Maintain relationships with local and international suppliers, screen new suppliers, negotiate contracts, and regularly assess quality and cost.
Cost and Contract Negotiation:
- Negotiate prices and contract terms, ensure timely delivery, and focus on obtaining cost optimization solutions in the market.
Order Management:
- Review and manage procurement requests, develop procurement plans, track order progress, ensure timely delivery, and resolve issues.
Compliance and Quality Control:
- Ensure procurement meets the company’s quality standards and complies with company policies and regulations.
Logistics Management:
- Coordinate import and export operations in Malaysia, China and other regions.
- Track the progress of cargo transportation and solve problems that arise during transportation operations to ensure smooth process.
- Maintain communication with freight forwarding companies and relevant departments within the company to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods / machinery.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documents and information related to logistics and transportation activities.
- Ensure all logistics activities comply with relevant laws and regulations and company policies.
- Manage logistics-related budgets and perform cost control.
- Responsible for import electronic license applications (such as: Maqis, Sirim, LKIM).
What we’re looking for
- At least 3 years of experience in a procurement or supply chain role, preferably within the construction industry
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Proficient in using procurement software and systems
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- A degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is preferred
- Candidates fluent in Mandarin preferred as the role requires candidates to deal with Mandarin speaking clients.
- Willing to short and long term domestics and oversea travel.
