About the role
To manage the commercial and contractual aspects of interior design, renovation, fit-out and construction projects, including tendering, costing, quotations, procurement, subcontractor management, variation orders, progress claims and cost control. The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for ensuring projects are commercially managed and costs are properly monitored from tender stage through project completion.
Key responsibilities
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and scope of works
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BQ) and cost breakdowns where required
- Prepare project cost estimates and budgets
- Conduct quantity take-off and measurement of works
- Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Analyse material, labour and subcontractor costs
- Prepare tender submissions and commercial proposals
- Identify exclusions, assumptions, provisional sums and potential cost risks
- Prepare quotations based on drawings, BQ, specifications and site requirements
- Calculate material, labour, subcontractor and other project costs
About you
- Ability to review supplier and subcontractor quotations for accuracy
- Ability to conduct price comparison and negotiation
- Ability to maintain updated material and subcontractor rate databases
- Ability to review project cost against approved budget
- Ability to identify potential cost savings without compromising quality
- Ability to evaluate quotations based on price, quality, lead time and project requirements
- Ability to monitor contractual obligations and commercial requirements
- Ability to identify contractual risks and report them to management
- Ability to monitor project cost against approved budget and track committed, actual and forecast costs
- Ability to prepare monthly progress claims based on actual work progress
