About the role
SIRIM Berhad, a leading research and technology organization in Malaysia, is seeking a talented Consultant (Intellectual Property) to join their esteemed team. This full-time position is based in Shah Alam, Selangor, and will play a crucial role in the company’s intellectual property management and advisory services.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide expert IP management and consultation, overseeing the coordination, maintenance, and commercialization of IP assets.
- Plan and implement strategies to boost SIRIM Industrial Research’s revenue through IP operations and technology commercialization.
- Lead and track progress on IP commercialization efforts, providing feedback and monthly reports to drive business growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operational, financial, and sourcing divisions, to integrate IP considerations into SIRIM’s research, development, and consultancy projects.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in the IP landscape
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s Degree in Intellectual Property / Marketing / Business Administration / Economics / Engineering / Science / Management Studies
- Minimum 9 years of experience in intellectual property management, preferably in a consulting, research, or technology transfer environment
- Certified in Intellectual Property
- Strong technical background in a relevant field, such as engineering, science, or technology, with a good understanding of IP legal principles and practices
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical and commercially-focused IP advice
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders, both internally and externally
- Proficiency in patent drafting, prosecution, and portfolio management
- Familiarity with relevant IP laws and regulations, both locally and internationally
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team
