Drafter

Job Purpose

The Drafter / Design Drafter (Solar PV) is to support the company in preparing technical drawings and project deliverables for tender submissions and project execution in accordance with project requirements and relevant standards. The role will assist both the Project Team and Business Development Team in producing accurate drafting work for solar PV and related engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting & Design

  • Prepare and develop technical drawings for project submissions and construction purposes according to project requirements and relevant standards.
  • Produce drafting work to support tender submissions and proposals for the Business Development (BD) team.
  • Draft and design Solar PV system layouts, including:
    • Single-line diagrams
    • Cable routing and wiring diagrams
    • Lightning protection diagrams
    • Equipment layouts
    • Monitoring system schematics
  • Prepare structural layout drawings with support from Civil & Structural (C&S) Engineers.
  • Prepare electrical drawings with support from Electrical Engineers.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate with Project Team and Site Construction Team to ensure accuracy and alignment of designs.
  • Update drawings and deliverables based on design revisions, review comments, and site deviations.
  • Review subcontractor and vendor drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure all drawings comply with authority requirements and industry standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation of drawings from proposal stage to as-built stage in coordination with the Document Controller.
  • Review deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality.

Design Development

  • Perform 3D designs for business development purposes.
  • Create and maintain standard drawing templates and typical details for project execution.
  • Support basic engineering calculations where required.

Requirements

Academic Qualification

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Drafting, or a related field, or equivalent qualification.

Certification (Preferred)

  • Certification in AutoCAD for design and drafting is an advantage.

Experience

  • Preferably 1–3 years of experience in drafting work related to Solar PV systems, electrical engineering, or construction projects.
  • Understanding of drawing standards, symbols, and technical drafting practices.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other relevant design software.
  • Familiar with engineering drafting standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Soft Skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet project deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented.
