Main purpose
Responsible for monitor, maintenance and upkeep of the IT infrastructure, equipment & network. The position will work with the IT team, vendors, and contractors to ensure that the IT hardware & software are properly maintained, and that all necessary repairs and maintenance are completed promptly and efficiently.
Roles and responsibilities
1. To ensure that the school’s IT Infrastructure & Network are running smoothly, efficiently & effectively.
a. Setting up, supporting and maintaining IT infrastructure, LAN & WAN, servers, hardware & software.
b. Backing up and recovering any infrastructure, LAN & WAN, servers and hardware & software.
- Infrastructure – CCTV, MFP, AV system, Switches, Access Points, Network Cabling – Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Fiber optic setup.
- LAN & WAN – Different network topology setup.
- Servers – Windows-based servers (VM technologies).
- Firewall.
- Backup solution.
- Anti-spam and virus protection.
- End-User IT devices and applications support. (Microsoft and Apple platform)
c. Ensuring that all IT equipment complies with industry standards.
d. Undertaking routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining and monitoring network security, particularly if the network connects to the internet.
e. Providing training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence.
f. Possessing ability to support and communicate with end-users.
g. IT solutions are properly documented.
2. To support all IT hardware and software in the school.
3. To support other systems in the school which include:
a. PABX/ Intercom Phone System,
b. Audio & Visual System, Sound & Lighting System for Stage (when needed)
c. School Bell System
d. Door Access System
e. Time Attendance System
4. To support all the IT end-users in school.
5. To provide training to teachers and support school technology projects.
6. All other duties as and when required by the school.
Qualifications and training
- Bachelor Degree in Data Communication/ IT/ Computer Science/ Computer Engineering/MIS/CI.
- Desirable: Professional certification in any infrastructure, LAN & WAN.
Experience
- 1 -2 years working experience in Data Communication, Networking & IT related jobs either in vendor or any end-user industry.
- Proven track record of any IT project implementation.
Skills and knowledge
1. Possess ability to setup, manage, support & maintain different platform of Infrastructure, LAN & WAN, hardware & software.
- Infrastructure – CCTV, MFP, AV system, Alarm system, Switches, Access Points, Network Cabling – Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic & etc setup.
- LAN & WAN – Different network topology setup.
- Servers – Windows-based servers (VM technologies)
- Firewall – Fortigate
- Microsoft platform application
- Back-up solution – (Acronics).
- Anti-spam and virus protection – (Microsoft Defender).
2. Possess a good communication & writing skill.
Personal qualities
- Ability to work independently – Need to support IT and user’s problems on site.
- Ability to work with team member. Teamwork is strongly required as Technology Department is involving with a lot of projects.
- Ability to upgrade and adapt to the new technology promptly. Open-minded concept is required.
- Willing to learn & share ideas/solution with peers. Ability to work independently – Need to support IT and user’s problems on site.
